Feedback from Second Draft Music Video

Below is a collaboration of words that were given to us when we showed target audience members the second draft of the music video. It indicated to us that whilst we were doing positively on actors image, professional shots, clear narrative and creativity of the production we needed to work on the overall sync of the video, the lighting in some areas, and the image quality.

Second Draft of Production Task

The clip inserted below is an upload of the second draft of our music video 'Don't Save Me'. The video has been almost fully edited at this point, and all of the necessary clips are now on the timeline. There are a few minor glitches remaining i.e. one or two small timing errors and black screens, therefore we need to adjust this for the final draft.

Evidence of Editing

The clip below shows the editing process of fading the top clip of Bella on top of the crowd shot. Here, the opacity is being lowered so that it appears in an overlay over the crowd shot. This way the crowd shot becomes more diverse and interesting and keeps the consumers attention.

In the following clip, the titles are being placed onto the opening clip. We created the text and positioned it onto the clip, which involved rotating it to fit in with the imagery. The text is placed in the windows, and remains whilst the train moves. This looks effective and professional therefore we decided that placing it here would be best.

The following image shows clips of Bella being cropped to fade over multiple different clips that were already in the timeline. The clips are of her miming the lyrics, and this effectively portrays her and communicates that she is the artist in the video. This is important to communicate, and her facial expression also contributes towards her emotions and the general story line we have aimed to portray in the video. In this particular clip we are rendering the footage, and the time this takes is dependent on the length of the clip rendering.

Filming Progress

We asked Bella our main actress who appeared in the previous footage to bring in the items of clothing she was wearing on previous days of filming so that we could film her inside school. This way, there would be no continuity errors in terms of style and clothing as both sections of footage need to look like they were filmed in the same time period.

In order to get the shots we needed, we brought the required equipment into school which included the camera, tripod and white photography screen used for the white background shown in the images. We filmed 2 main sections of footage; both Bella crying into the camera and also miming into the camera so the footage could be used for lip sync. To do this we also had the edited version of the song to hand.

First Draft of Production Task

This video shows the first draft of our music video. There are a few things that need working on for example timings and transitions, but overall the story line follows the plans closely and is a reflection of the ideas we had in mind.
