Feedback from Tutorial

_________________________________________________________________

This following is information and feedback from the tutorial that has taken place with teachers this week:
  • We should do more research into different aspects of music videos e.g. previous music videos
  • We need more planning for the main task i.e. storyboards

Character Profile: Male

_________________________________________________________________

Lee, 18, 5’’11
___ __ ___

Lee was chosen to feature as the main male character in the production of our music video. He was chosen due to the fact he also has the required ‘alternative’ look and is also a similar age to the target audience. He is also the same age as our female character and so we will be able to create a convincing video. He is also experienced, confident and comfortable in front of a camera. He is also friends with the female character which is a huge benefit to us as there won’t be any awkwardness that could be identified by the audience in the footage.

Character Profile: Female

Bella, 18, 5’’7
____ __ ___
We chose Bella specifically to play the role of the female in the romantic story line as she has a very unique distinctive look about her which is key for her to be 1) easily identifiable and 2) stay in the minds of the viewers. She is young and attractive and also fits into the ‘alternative’ genre. She has had previous experience in front of the camera and in music videos and so is ideal and will be comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and this will save us time also.

Main Characters

Main Characters

We chose Bella and Lee to feature in our production as firstly we felt that they physically best meet the requirements specified by the target audience in our questionnaire conducted at the start of planning, being of an ‘alternative look’. These particular people were also chosen because they are in a similar age group to the target audience and also we felt that they would work best and give the most convincing performance in front of the camera due to their past experience acting. They are comfortable in front of the camera and this is a vital requirement because the recordings need to be as convincing and professional as possible.
We decided when storyboarding that the main story running throughout the video would be romance, and so a male and female character were required to show this.
We also arranged for extras to be there on the day of filming to make it more realistic and we can also dictate what they do rather than just filming people in the background. We haven’t specified who these individuals are, because as they do not play a major role and need a specific character identity and so it’s easier for us to change or arrange people to fill in if anyone is absent.
